SHA2017

The upcoming Dutch hacker camp SHA2017 is looking for a design and therefore we ask YOU to submit a proposal.

Standing in the tradition of GHP 1989, HEU 1993, HIP 1997, HAL2001, WTH2005, HAR2009 and OHM2013 we need an awesome design to give our camp/conference a style.

The SHA acronym finds its origin in the hashing algorithm SHA (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Hash_Algorithm).

This is a prominent hashing algorithm in the security of the internet, for example in checking the integrity of digital information. It is also used widely in blockchain technology used for bitcoin and others.

This acronym is to be used in a different backronym for the name of this conference which is still undecided.

We are therefore looking for a team that wants do the designs for sha2017, including:

• Logo

• Set of design elements (fonts, colors, shapes) for decoration, other teams

• Pre-event marketing articles: (given out on events, send to hackerspaces, villages)
  • Poster
  • Stickers
  • Info-book about sha for hackerspaces

• Website-designs for
  • Public wiki
  • Frab (talk submission system)
  • Volunteer system (volunteering management software)
  • Ticket sales system

• SHA-Wear
  • T-shirts
  • Hoodies
  • Orange safety vests?
  • Orange heavy rain jackets?
  • Moar to come, insert your idea here - no, srsly. designers have good ideas here, please come up with something. :-)

• Helping designing a promo video

• Helping teams to create design templates for 
  • Bulletins
  • Announcements 
  • Signs
  • Infodesk print pages

• Designs, but does not write contents of the sha-handbook.

• Designs the proceedings (publication of the talks)

The design team does not do: 

• Content for any of the things above

Deadlines for this include:

• A theme for the existing public website with some hints of the design needs to be up in Dec 2016

• Decoratie needs a general idea of the look-and-feel (to match design of decorational artifacts) as soon as possible but at least before end of the year. plus design elements & logo in late 2016

In your proposal you should answer the following questions:

• Which direction do you want the design to go including things like the Logo and a few other elements? (pick two or three)

• What resources do you need?

• Who will be in the Team? Who will be team / designlead? If you are alone we can help you finding a team. 

• Explain your design choices and the story and motivation behind it

• Submissions should be made until Oct 29st 2016
